About this Title:

Venda is a language spoken by some 1 million people in South Africa. It is also spoken in Zimbabwe. The pioneer translator of the Bible into Venda was the missionary and linguist Dr Paul Erdmann Schwellnuss who was employed by the Berlin Missionary Society. He completed the first Venda Bible in 1936.

This Bible text is latest translation in Venda which was completed in 1998 and is a thought for thought translation. It was translated by Mr FC Raulinga, Mr AR Mbuwe and Prof JA van Rooy, the project co-ordinator. They were assisted by various other people as well as a Review Committee.
